"...perfect for one or two individuals... It has a well-equipped food prep area with a shared kitchen around the corner with its own designated hot plates and oven."
Jane S, Sunrise (#2), May '22
"We had a fantastic stay at Mana House. The place was full of thoughtful touches and the bed was super comfortable. The communal kitchen worked really well."
Harriet L, Ocean Spray (#1), Apr '22
The shared kitchen gives you more space in your ensuite room and keeps the smell of cooking away, whilst being conveniently accessed from inside each unit.
|
The shared kitchen also provides an opportunity to meet other guests on a casual basis, and top-ups of anything you might run out of can be found in the cupboards.
|
Every unit has a dedicated multi-function oven in the shared kitchen, so after prepping your meal in your room, you can just pop it into the oven and retreave it when it's ready.
Also there are 5 induction cook tops. They have the safety feature that they display an error signal (as shown below) and they will not turn on, until a pot is placed on them, thus reducing the risk of burns and a fire hazard.

You don't want to waste any more time than you have to washing dishes, and with a state-of-the-art Danby Counter-Top Dishwasher in every room, our guests can forget about their dirty pots!
Fill it and Forget it ~ Unlike other counter-top dishwashers, the Danby is fully plumbed in; you simply set the program, press start and let it run. It's operation is very quiet (for a dishwasher) and the elegant, compact design takes advantage of every useable cubic inch, easily taking the dishes, cutlery, pots and pans from most 3-course meals for two.
Warning! Super-Soft Water: Use half or less of dishwasher detergent than you normally would, or you'll find yourself dealing with a machine full of soap suds at the end of the washing cycle! (And the same goes for shampoo, body wash, etc.)

Our water comes from a 200' deep well, which we've never known to run dry in the 20 years we've lived here. Like many of the Gulf Islands, Denman is over a coal deposit, which gives the water a sulphurous taste and smell without filtration, so...
First the water goes into our 1100 gallon holding tank where it off-gases. On the way into the building it is filtered for particulates and bacteria (UV) so all the 'regular' water is clean and safe (and tested). |
Drinking (and cooking) water gets a further filtration through a carbon filter under the kitchen sink which removes the last of the sulphurous taste and smell. It is delivered through the nozzle in the elbow of the pot-filler, and it has it's own lever at the back behind the column.
|
Safely stand the kettle on the "Counter-top Extender" to fill it. This simple but ingenious gadget will take a heavy hot pot, and you can drain your dishes etc., on it. Roll it up when not in use. [Note the dish-soap pump on the right-hand side of the sink.]

"...We appreciated the built-in water filter to make the well water odorless and tasteless! It seems like all our needs were met before we knew we needed them…" (Kim W, July '21)
Denman Water is a naturally alkaline, premium quality water that family and friends have been enjoying for many years. Our story is unique because the water source is an underground stream that flows directly beneath the land we live on to the edge of the property where it flows into the ocean. |
