A Gem of a Place: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Manna House... After spending the day mountain biking on Hornby Island, we loved soaking in the Japanese cedar hot tub, cooking meals in the well-stocked kitchen, and enjoying our meals on our private deck overlooking a lovely garden with nighttime lights and birdsong that create a magical ambience. Our upstairs suite had a stunning view of the ocean, and the whole place is top-notch in terms of amenities, decor, architectural details and opportunities to relax and enjoy nature. We also enjoyed our time swimming in the ocean, which is a two-minute walk away and relaxing on the beach in comfy chairs... |
Bliss: Manna House is something special! Restful and beautifully appointed, Eagle View unit had both garden and ocean views. The unit was immaculate, the bed comfortable. Mark was a genial and informative host and even went as far as to arrange the requested Orca sighting! Four orcas swimming off the beach in the morning, just breathtaking. Thank you as well for setting up the hot tub which was enjoyed in the evening... This was a very relaxing place to visit and it was incredible to see all the island wildlife in the area, especially the deer meandering through the front yard. The ocean view and the endless sky of stars were quite mesmerizing! Everything has been thought of in equipping the beautiful modern space. |
Manna House is an exquisite retreat nestled near the most breath-taking view of the ocean, From the Eagle View suite, we were able to take in both a sunset and a paper blue moon, as well as a raft of otters while we drank coffee at the beach in the morning. With the ultimate enchanting moments in the Japanese hot and cold tubs while stargazing, and the stunningly artistic beachfront sauna at night under a canopy of trees and vines, picnic w baguette and wine while tiny drops of rain cooled us. The whole experience on the beach was the perfect backdrop to the most beautiful, artistically designed space and retreat from an urban life. |
My stay at Manna House was nothing short of magical! The photos don't begin to do justice to how special this place is. The attention to detail really shows through. The staff is friendly, considerate, and lovely to chat with. As a woman traveling alone, I felt incredibly safe and well-received at Manna House. |
Our stay in Eagle View was everything we wished for: peaceful, relaxing, and indulgent. The space is well finished, and the private balcony and garden (with the cedar soaker tubs) are perfect for relaxing outdoors. Mark has created a wonderful private beach area on the property, where we spent evenings enjoying the wood fired sauna and fire pit, while watching the sunset. They have created a beautiful escape that mixes luxury and rustic west coast charm. Although the loft is on a shared property, it was private and quiet. The best part of our time at Manna House was the sunset sauna time on the beach. Unique and stunning! We’ll be back. |
This was a very relaxing place to visit and it was incredible to see all the island wildlife in the area especially the deer meandering through the front yard. The ocean view and the endless sky of stars were quite mesmerizing! Everything has been thought of in equipping the beautiful modern space. This was perhaps the best sauna experience of our lives! Come here to this beautiful spot, soak in your hot and cold tubs, book both the saunas, and have the most incredible experience ever like we did. Can’t wait to return & have more soaks, sunset saunas, ocean plunges and beach fires. |
Eagle View is an architectural gem. Through the inspired use of floor space, this compact first-floor ensuite unit combines usability and intimacy, comfort with character. Featuring sloping ceilings with 4 large skylights, East facing triangular windows and a double glass door onto the West facing balcony; natural light floods in from all 4 directions.
Opposite the gas fireplace is the bathroom, the reason many people book this unit, described by a recent guest as "...one of the most majestic bathtubs in the entire province. The skylights are fantastic". Then enjoy your morning coffee, or a BBQ, on the balcony overlooking your private garden.

The unit can be entered either from the shared kitchen, or from the private garden, where there's a seating area, hammock, personal Japanese "Ofuro" Cedar Hot Tub, Cold Plunge Tub, fire pit and sun-lounging deck.
From the bedroom window, sunrise and moonrise over Hornby Island, reflecting on the calm water of the Lambert Channel, provide a constant light show, and if you get really lucky you might spot a passing pod of orcas, or even humpbacks!
Art from the host's collection of prints by local and international artists, carpets and fabrics, add warmth and colour, set against a simple Zen inspired décor.
Please Note: All of the accommodations have an ocean view, but are not directly on the water; it is a pleasant 2 minute walk to the oceanfront amenities.

"Manna House is a lovely retreat in Denman Island. We were on the top floor and it was magnificent. Stunning views of the water from the bedroom and a lovely backyard to enjoy. The rocky beach is just across the street, amazingly secluded, and beautiful to swim in." (Elizabeth N, July '21)
